I started this day with such good intentions….
I was on a mission. The goal, to go to Franklin to buy a living room suite, go home, enjoy the sun, work in the yard.
Every detail of this mission was FAILED!
I started off at Rooms to Go. Last night, Darrell and I had found a couch, love seat, chair and ottoman that we both agreed on. Well, I went to buy it, and the Rooms to Go people just put me in an ugly mood. I HATE that feeling that I get when I know that the sales people are stalking me. To them, I am mere commission. How many silly things can they add to my total to up their percentage? I can sense it and smell it just as much as they can sense that I have money to spend. Well, when my sales vulture welcomed me into the store, I told him that I was there to buy a living room set. I knew which one I wanted, I knew what I wanted, I knew how much it was going to cost and I did not need the leather protection that they were going to charge me $150 extra for. We went to his little computer kiosk where he typed in my order. Well, wouldn’t ya know….The sale ended yesterday AND that particular set is the most sought after and wonderful furniture group ever known to Rooms 2 go. That means that it wouldn’t even be available to be delivered until May 24th. The company couldn’t release that group because of it’s popularity, but for me, little old me, they would call corporate to see if they could release it. I’m tellin’ ya, it must have been my lucky day because corporate decided to let me have it. At that point I was already wanting to gag from all of the sales fluff that the guy was feeding me. I was going to go ahead and buy it. I am tired of sitting on an aerobed in my living room. I didn’t even really want that couch and stuff. It seemed cheap to me. I mean if it’s the “finest Italian leather” why do I have to spend an extra $150 to protect it? Just to end the whole ploy, I gave the vulture my husband’s debit card. (This is where Jesus basically came down from Heaven and stopped me from making this stupid mistake.) The guy couldn’t take the card because it just has Darrell’s name on it. So, I told the guy that Darrell would be in later in the afternoon to finish the transaction. At this point, I made the decision that I would not be purchasing ANYTHING from Rooms to Go. I made my exit and decided to go back home to a local furniture store that loves me and wants to make me happy all the time. They are more expensive, but they treat me like the furniture buying princess that I am.
As I got into the van, I noticed ALL of the service lights blinking. huh, not big deal…must be a fuse. I traveled on down the interstate to my exit where the van stopped dead in the middle of the ramp. Fortunatly, by nothing more than the pure grace of God, Darrell just so happened to be in Franklin. Darrell hates Franklin. He makes every effort to stay out of the town for some stupid reason, but today, he was there. He was even very close to where the van died. As I was sitting on the ramp praying that I wouldn’t get swiped by a big truck, I got on the phone with my insurance company. My insurance company is supposed to be helpful when it comes to finding a towing service and stuff, but they help with NOTHING! The only thing that they made very clear was that they would reimburse me only $50 of the $150 that I had to pay for towing. They were also supposed to assist me in finding a tow service. Well, guess what, I talked to Nationwide people all over this great nation and no one was able to give me a number to any tow service. Fortunatly, when Darrell got there, he had the GPS and it found one for me. Thank you Garmin Nuvi 350 for doing to work that Nationwide is supposed to do. So, I had the pleasure of traveling with Darrell and Grandaddy today. We bid an apartment complex and a bank and drove around Franklin like we owned the place.
When I got back to town, I went to my favorite furniture store and bought by brown leather couch, love seat, chair and ottoman. They love me and are bringing it home Thursday morning. As far as the van, I think the battery was dead. I’ll pick it up tomorrow.
